Comment on Squiggle Birds by Lorrianne Nault https://gamestorming.com/squiggle-birds/#comment-2069 Wed, 01 Apr 2015 23:54:50 +0000 https://gamestorming.com/?p=1379#comment-2069 Just tried this with my team. We added to the exercise a bit. We did the squiggles and birds, but then did a round where each person added accessories or other details to each bird. This created a story or character that they then described to the group. It was really surprising how creative the stories and personalities were. I think the squiggle base prompted much more interesting results than if you simply asked someone to draw a bird and tell a story about it. Very fun!

Comment on Question Balloons by Patrin https://gamestorming.com/question-balloons/#comment-1245 Mon, 09 Mar 2015 21:40:14 +0000 https://gamestorming.com/?p=740#comment-1245 We tried this today in a group of 23 or so, using regular (non-helium) balloons, with questions written ahead of time on cards tied to the balloon with string. We also waited until after the speaker’s presentation to pop the balloons, so as not to interrupt the flow of the presentation. It worked a treat. Truly effective and light-hearted way to engage the group – the laughter seemed to encourage more questions – thank you!

If you plan and/or design meetings/workshops in groups, here is a canvas that could be useful:

Comment on 3-12-3 Brainstorm by christine https://gamestorming.com/3-12-3-brainstorm/#comment-406 Wed, 20 Aug 2014 20:08:16 +0000 https://gamestorming.com/?p=360#comment-406 I just used this with my team.
first 3 minutes went really well. then we found that we needed to do a sorting exercise to group clusters of ideas. this part dragged a little bit, but one of the participants had the idea of using index cards (we used post it notes), throwing cards on the ground and then asking entire team to group… get everyone moving & make the grouping exercise faster.

Comment on Heart, Hand, Mind by Yosef https://gamestorming.com/heart-hand-mind/#comment-393 Fri, 01 Aug 2014 20:39:31 +0000 https://gamestorming.com/?p=587#comment-393 I find this tool a little confusing (or possibly over-simplified), and I’m wondering if it can be updated.

The tool claims to “examine an issue from another perspective”, but then never mentions WHO’s perspective.

After we listing the Heart, Hand, and Mind characteristics, how does scoring them from 1-10 help us better understand “the meaning of any endeavor”?

I think this tool is valuable (exploring ethos, logos, and pathos)– just not in its current state.
